It is also known as Dulce de Leche. The origin of the milk jam stays mysterious: It can be found on every continent. It is high in carbohydrates and will delight children and athletes. Try it on bread or crepes.

    Ingredients :
    • Sugar: 500 gr
    • Milk: 1 litre
    Preparation time : 5 minutes
    Cooking time : 120 minutes

    1. Pour the milk into a high pan so that the milk does not boil over.

    2. Add the sugar and the vanilla. If this is a vanilla bean, split it in two and remove the seeds. Add the mixture to the preparation. Remove the vanilla sticks once the mixture starts reducing.

    3. Bring to a boil by stirring to dissolve the sugar.

    4. As soon as the milk reaches the boiling point, reduce the heat.

    5. Cook about 2 hours over low heat.

    6. The sugar quickly transforms into caramel if the heat is too intense. Stir occasionally.

    7. The milk jam is ready when it becomes thick and takes a beautiful caramel colour.

    8. Mix well, then pour the preparation into the jars and close them immediately.

It must be eaten cold. After opening, conserve the milk jam in the refrigerator.
